Wairau Valley Retail

This project involved the re-cladding and exterior upgrade of a very tired retail building along the busy Wairau Road on Auckland’s North Shore.

A screen of vertical Aluminium fins was applied to the the main facade of the building to express the simple gable form of the original building, albeit subtly. This creates a shifting impression of the building as the viewer changes their angle.  Secondary Aluminium clad facades then protrude through the screened gable to clearly differentiate the tenancies within.

These simple yet striking interventions have increased the quality, value and presence of the building, ensuring that both the owner and tenants realise maximum benefit from its prominent corner location.
